ethernet cards go for about $10 bucks that is the way I would go with it
I'm looking to set up a wireless network in my home. The laptop has a wireless card and is ready to go. Bought a router, but couldn't hook it up because all the connections on the back were by ethernet cable. Here is the problem- I have an older Dell PC that does not have a ethernet card in it but is hooked up to my DSL modem with USB. Do I have to buy an ethernet card for the PC or there any adapters or a different router I can use?

Here is what Buy.com has

(I think Walmart sells Network cards as well)
Looks like the ethernet to USB converter is more evpensave than the card LOL
hook up your router and modem box near your pc. the hook the modem and router together by a ethernet cord. run one cord from router to PC and then the wireless signal should be sendin out for the laptop
I am 100 times more open minded than most on here about the topics we talk about.-Raider13
Thanks, I believe your right about the adapter. Dell sells a refurbished card for $14 bucks. Might go that route.
Buy NIC card, install in PC (should take 10 minutes tops). Buy a Linksys at Wally World for $20 or so. They're so cheap there is no sense in going with a refurb.
I don't know why they even bother provisioning a USB connection for broadband. Nothing but a huge bottleneck.

I bought the model in the link you posted at OfficeMax and are having problems getting it to be recognized by my computer. Is it possible since my computer is 5 years old that a newer card doesn't work?
Not really. You have to really pop those things in. It may feel like you are going to break it, but you won't.
